Performance stretch is usually built from nylon and elastane polymerised from crude oil. BioFlex™ starts differently. Starch glucose is extracted from corn straw, the stalk left after harvest, then regenerated into nylon, so 50% of the input comes from agricultural waste. Chemically it is still nylon, with the four-way stretch, recovery and quick-drying behaviour the category requires.
Performance stretch does not have to begin with crude oil. BioFlex™ proves agricultural waste can do serious technical work.
BioFlex™ runs well past the gym. Wireless bras, seamless briefs, the On The Go boxer trunk and everyday separates all use it, knitted without side seams so nothing presses into skin. The recovery that holds a legging's shape is the same property that keeps a bra band from stretching out. Materials like this stay costly to develop at scale; proving they work commercially is how better inputs get room to grow.
BioFlex™ is Paire's lightweight performance fabric, made with a nylon yarn whose nylon component is 50% bio-based and derived from corn-stalk waste. Four-way stretch, softness and quick-drying performance make it suited to training and everyday wear.
Selected BioFlex™ leggings are designed to stay opaque through bends and squats, while bras use product-specific construction for support. Coverage and support vary by style, colour, fit and size, so check the individual product details.
BioFlex™ moves moisture away from the skin and dries quickly, helping the fabric feel light through workouts and warmer days. Its breathable construction allows heat to escape without leaving the fabric feeling heavy.
Conventional nylon is polymerised from petrochemicals. For BioFlex™, starch glucose is extracted from corn straw — the stalk left in the field after harvest — and regenerated into a nylon fibre instead, so 50% of the material begins as agricultural waste rather than crude oil. It performs as nylon does, because chemically it is nylon.
Always follow the care label on the individual product. Wash cold on a gentle cycle with like colours, avoid bleach and fabric softener, then air-dry away from direct heat.
The properties that matter in a legging are the ones that matter next to skin: four-way stretch, recovery, quick drying and a smooth surface under clothes. BioFlex™ bras and seamless briefs are knitted without side seams, and the fabric returns to shape after movement rather than bagging out at the band. Durability still depends on fit, friction and consistent care.
Turn it inside out and wash with like colours. Don't leave it damp and rolled up in a gym bag in the meantime — get it out and hang it up until you can wash it.
Machine wash below 30ºC. Wash it after every sweaty wear rather than every few: salt and body oils sit in the fibres and work against the elastic over time.
Using soap? Keep it mild. No bleach — chlorine oxidises the bonds in stretch fibre and the damage is permanent. No fabric softener either; it coats the fibres and takes the wicking with it, while trapping the very bacteria you're washing out.
Air-dry. It's better for your Paire and the planet, and here it's also the single biggest thing you can do for the life of the garment. Stretch fibre starts to degrade permanently above 40ºC, and a domestic tumble dryer runs at 57ºC to 77ºC — enough to cost a garment a serious share of its stretch within a few dozen cycles. If you must tumble dry, use the lowest setting and take it out barely damp rather than baking it dry.
No ironing or dry cleaning please.
Rotate. Elastic recovers when it's rested, and a garment worn every single day loses its shape faster than the same garment worn every third day. Keep it away from chlorine too — a spa or a heavily chlorinated pool will shorten the life of the stretch faster than anything else on this list.
Fold it flat rather than hanging it stretched over a hanger, and never store it compressed for months. Completely dry before it goes away.
