What Silk Actually Adds to a Wool Knit

Silk is the smoothest natural fibre available and, unusually, it is strong for its fineness. Blended into a Merino knit it does two things: it removes the last of the surface prickle, and it adds a subtle drape that stops fine knitwear looking flat. What it doesn’t add is warmth — that’s the wool’s job. The blend is about making wool wearable against skin, not about making it warmer.
