Why a Wool T-Shirt Isn’t a Winter Garment

It sounds wrong, but Merino works in summer for the same reason it works in winter: it manages moisture. The fibre absorbs water vapour from the skin before it becomes liquid sweat, then releases it into the air, which keeps you dry and therefore cooler. Cotton does the opposite — it absorbs liquid sweat and holds it, which is why a cotton tee feels heavy and clings by mid-afternoon. That’s the whole reason a fine Merino tee outperforms cotton on a hot day, not just a cold one.
