ReForm™ Merino Fleece

ReForm Merino Fleece is a two-layer construction: a Merino-blend fleece face and a 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell back. Unlike conventional polyester fleece, it combines breathable wool at the surface with a smoother plant-derived layer against the body.

It is designed as warm everyday outerwear rather than a technical jacket with a fixed warmth rating. Wear it over a tee in cool weather, beneath a coat when temperatures drop, or alone as the day warms.

The Merino-blend fleece sits on the outer face, while the TENCEL™ Lyocell back feels smoother against the body. Those with a known wool sensitivity may still prefer to test the jacket before extended wear.

Because the two surfaces face different things. The Merino-blend fleece face handles warmth and texture to the world; the 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell back gives the body a smooth, breathable cellulosic surface instead of wool or polyester. It is a construction decision rather than a blend, with each layer chosen for what it touches.

Hand wash or use a gentle machine cycle with cold water and wool detergent. Avoid bleach and wringing, then reshape and lay flat to dry, following the garment care label first.

As with most wool-blend fleeces, repeated friction may cause some surface pilling over time. Treat it as part of normal wear, and avoid rough surfaces to help preserve the finish.

Close the zip before washing — an open zip is what catches and pulls a fleece face.

Hand wash, or use a gentle machine cycle with cold water, below 30ºC. There's a Merino-blend face on this jacket, so treat it like wool.

Using soap? Keep it mild, wool-specific and enzyme-free. No bleach, no fabric softener.

Never wring it out. Press the water through, then roll the jacket in a dry towel and press again. Dry flat and reshape while damp — don't hang it wet, because a soaked fleece jacket is heavy enough to pull its own shoulders out of shape. No tumble drying or dry cleaning please.

Look after the two sides differently. The fleece face can be brushed gently with a soft clothes brush to lift the pile back up after it's been flattened by a coat or a backpack. The smooth TENCEL™ Lyocell back needs nothing beyond a cool iron if it creases in storage.

Air it after a long day rather than washing it. A jacket like this should see the wash a handful of times a season at most. Hang it somewhere with moving air, brush the face, and it's ready to go again.

Store clean and folded rather than on a hanger — the weight of the fleece will distort the shoulders over a season. Breathable storage, cedar or lavender nearby, and completely dry before it goes away.

As with most wool-blend fleeces, repeated friction may raise some surface pilling, usually where a backpack or seatbelt sits. Take it off with a fabric comb rather than a razor, which can cut the pile.
